Larsen recently mentioned this project but oddly didn't say anything about Bryan Singer or Universal being involved with it.

Universal Pictures has upped Scott Bernstein to exec VP of production.

Best known for his work with genre material like "Hellboy II: The Golden Army," Bernstein has also been involved with many of the studio's hit comedies, including "The Break-Up" and "Role Models." He is currently shepherding "Your Highness" and the prequel to John Carpenter's "The Thing." Bernstein is also developing Dark Horse's graphic novel "The Umbrella Academy" and the bigscreen adaptation of "Battlestar Galactica."

He'll report to U prexy of production Debbie Liebling.

Scott has a real sense of what's next in pop culture, which informs his work on comedies and genre films," said U co-chair Donna Langley. "He's been a great asset to the studio."

Before joining U in 2007 as a senior VP of production, Bernstein worked as a production exec at Revolution Studios, Lionsgate and Ignite Films. He also did stints at Mostow/Lieberman Prods. and the Draizin Co.

Bernstein began his film career at Jon Peters Entertainment as a story editor-production exec.

Could this be an alias?

I saw the article before but there's nothing about Singer and/or Larson.

It still sounds like a remake to me. I'm skeptical that Larson will really have that much to do with it, other than possibly sign the check he gets for Universal using the concept.

Google it, dude. There's been several releases over the past months, stating that Larson and Singer are helming this.

Despite certain media journalists insinuating Singer is no longer doing the Battlestar Galactica movie, based on Larson's creation, Singer is quoted as looking for a writer for the project

We just concluded a deal for "Battlestar Galactica," and we're looking for a writer. And for "Excalibur," we're still in negotiations. Those are the four directorial projects that I and my company are involved in.

From Feb 25th...

Further details posted at Latino Review suggest that the film will indeed be called Superman: The Man Of Steel, and that Brandon Routh will definitely not be pulling the blue tights on again. It's very unlikely, too, that Bryan Singer is getting asked back to the director's chair, although given that he's reportedly working on a Battlestar Galactica movie, that's not a huge surprise.

Nobody expects ANYONE to ask Singer back for a Supes reboot.. especially since Superman Returns was labelled a flop -- I kinda liked the way it depicted Superman as carrying the burden on his houlders of being Earth's only superbeing, but that's not important right now...

Still, it's worth noting that people in the biz think he's too busy with a BSG film to helm anything else.

That article isn't coming up.

I did find this, but it dates back to August 2009

Bryan Singer to direct and produce 'Battlestar Galactica' movie
by Nicole Sperling
Categories: Film, News, Uncategorized

Battlestar Galactica is getting the big-screen treatment. Universal Pictures has confirmed what was originally reported on HitFix.com that Bryan Singer, director of Valkyrie, will take on directing and producing duties for a BSG movie. Glen Larson, who created original series back in 1978, will produce as well. The film is not expected to be a continuation of current popular television show that’s running on the SyFy network but will be a complete re-imagining of the sci-fi lore that was invented by Larson back in the 70s.

Note that it says it's not a continuation.

It doesn't matter if it's a continuation or not. It's going to be loyal to the TOS lore, that Larson created in his 1978-79 BSG show, with updated f/x, etc. It'll stamp out that crapfest Moore pooped out, that hardly anyone watched.

Hopefully you are right. But I'm skeptical. Right now it's in planning stages, and they're still saying it's a reimagining.

The "re-imaging" stamp was made by some GINOid press monkey... not Larson and Singer. Nice try, though.

Right now I'm being cautious but otimistic. However, we' ve been screwed before, so I'm waiting until I find out for sure how close this project will be to the original series.
