Well, sanity has not prevailed and Universal and Bryan Singer are going ahead with their reboot of a reboot.

Remember that (a) this is a "reimagining" or the original and (b) they really haven't given the green light to the production.

On the other hand, it's encouraging that Uni bought the film rights from Larson.

Still, this is at least something.

You are absolutely correct. It is another reboot.

The boat sailed for a continuation a long time ago and it's not coming back.

This story is becoming ridicoulus, really. I almost hope that Singer's project won't see the light....we need fresh ideas, but the same old songs repeated over and over again.

It does look like Universal at least picked up the movie rights, but this is still a long way from becoming a movie.

I'm doubtful the original Singer project will end up being produced even it this gets the green light. I suspect it will be another version/remake or the original.

If with the original singer project you mean pre-2001 BSG, forget it, too many things have changed, personally, I'm more bothered to see a sort of stagnation of TV and Cinema, where it seems that everybody is trying to use beaten horses, comics, cartoons of the 80s (GI Joe) etc... but NO NEW ideas..

Is that so difficult to create a new sci-fi opera with new names and a new concept?

Oh, I just found that the americans are shooting the remake of "let the right one come in"...swedish movie released in 2008...remake schedulated for 2011.

Yes, that's what I was referring to...the Singer pre-Moore project.

Studios tend to do things in cycles, and taking comics, toys, and remaking previous projects seems to be the thing nowadays. They are looking to combine the pre-existing audience with new people in the hopes of making money.

With Galactica this is still far off from becoming a reality, and certainly I doubt it will be out by 2011 as some think.

Larsen recently mentioned this project but oddly didn't say anything about Bryan Singer or Universal being involved with it.

Honestly, that remake doesn't bother me so much as who's doing it. How in the hell does this sound like a project for the returning Hammer Horror? Why can't they just hire Christopher Lee and give their Dracula series a proper send-off? Or hire Tim Burton to do something in the style of Sleepy Hollow? I mean, some projects just aren't meant for Hammer.

Yes, tired of all those remakes. Avatar, District 9, Moon...WHEN WILL THEY DO ORIGINAL SCIFI?

Me, I just wish the fanboys would whine about something else for a change. Remakes make money, they will happen, nothing you can do about it except not go.

ARRRR...I'm the butt pirate.

There were live action movies of DISTRICT 9 and AVATAR before the ones that came out over the last year? If so, please post a link.
