I would argue the magic, like all magic, is a mirage. 50 million saw it for what it was. 55 million were either hardcore liberals or people tired of the current climate and willing to be duped. The media did all it could to help him along and it got him elected. Now 30 million of the 55 million that voted for him are disenchanted with the magic and left with buyer's remorse. He is the hardline leftist he denied being and America is a center-right country. Its no surprise the magic is gone.

...and who'd have thought there was much difference between in house international political spectrums? The seeds were sown, just as Carter found out after Watergate.

The point was that you guys needed a 'change', and it was shouted across the stratosphere. You needed a new head on the same voice, business as usual. You can't just walk away from a fight of principles, because, well, you lose. The heads in Washington realised that. And now we are left with a war that no-one can really define, because it was sidetracked for another show-in-town.

It's a fucking mess.
