Folks, in light of new information that has come to the attention of the CFF leadership, we are now uring continuation fans to turn their collective letter writing attention towards NBC-Universal. Tom and Glen are no longer our targets, as the target has moved.
Write a postcard or letter to the following gentlemen ASAP, and let them know you want to see a Tom DeSanto-led continuation of the original Battlestar Galactica.

Universal Studios, Inc.

There's no timetable set for this letter writing campaign, but the CFF website has been updated, and we should try to send as many letters as possible by the end of the year.

Why is this the target if we've been told that Larson holds the movie rights? If Larson holds the movie rights, what does Universal have to do with the price of tea in China? What do these guys, who we've already written to before, matter? Not being snippy, just wondering. :D

No problem, JJ... it's the same thing you've been reading on the other boards. DeSanto is reportedly trying to get an animated television series going. Old universe or new, NBC-Universal holds the TV rights.
We need to let NBC-Universal know we support Tom.
Maybe Tom's thinking that an animated series could prove there's a feature film market, and could ultimately serve as a springboard to a live action film. But I trust Tom... and I'll be writing to NBC-Universal to tell them so.

No offence intended towards CFF, but is anyone really interested in an Animated TOS continuation?
The Clone Wars mini-series was okay as a filler between Episode II and III, but I really am not interested BSG living on in that format.
Anyhow, who would broadcast it? The Cartoon Network or will NBC broadcast it in the Saturday Morning kiddie timeslot with mega censorship?

Mark, an animated series would not be my first choice, no.
But if DeSanto sees that as an avenue for focusing attention on TOS at this point, then I'm behind him.
Obviously, if the Hollywood establishment felt that a TOS movie would be profitable, they'd be in the process of making the damn thing.
Animated is less expensive. But, if it's good, and if it's a success, and if it helps rekindle awareness of TOS, then it could be a stepping stone to making the case for a feature. I mean, I can only guess at what DeSanto is thinking... but, it seems to make sense. It's a way to make the property fresh again for a smaller investment than a feature film would demand.
Like Larson said, it's going to be a journey.

I think it would help out Larson if people would support Knight Rider 2005.
That game Dirk & Richard voiced on is doing well, thanks to RDM (I SAID THAT) Plus the compete and epic series sold very well when it came out.
If DeSanto wants a antimated series, why not I've blown serios money on stamps, don't use a postal machine when writing to big shots as a average fan. Details CT, what do I need to know about Tom's cartoon? Before I use Subscipt in honor of Dan Rather,
Quick Bill, before the MPAA grabs you!

All I know, Waste, is that he wants to produce a quality animated project, set in the TOS Universe, using TOS characters. My hope is that he wants to make it an adult-oriented animation... but that's just my hope.

I personally think an animated continuation could be great. You could have a few episodes set closer to the time frame of The Hand of God to bridge a continuation from then to now. Actor's ages wouldn't be a problem. You could even have a Lorne Greene sound-alike for an episode or two, but I would only welcome this if Adama was brought on temporarily to make the transition - i.e. die - and bridge old and new. The series could even be somewhat of a Clone Wars clone and lay the groundwork for a BSG mnovie. Surely DeSanto has thought of that.
This is not perfect. But it is the best viable idea I've heard in a long time.

I don’t think this animation thing will happen, why would NBC/Universal subsidize an animated continuation based show with Tom DeSanto. Ya know RDM is going to point this info out to Scifi/USA & NBC/Universal.
Tom DeSanto is on the record that he wants to make Larson’s Battlestar movie. Why would NBC/Universal do a Battlestar Galactica animated show with potential TOS movie version stars Hatch and Benedict voicing the animated one? Indeed Glen A. Larson has stated that Dirk and Richard will return as Starbuck and Apollo in his Battlestar movie.
Here is a bit of a goddamn shit-kicker, what if The New Series is picked up for a second season? Remember that Dirk Benedict did say no to a cameo on Scifi’s little mickey mouse version!
NBC/Universal would be far better of doing a new series based animated show, they have a ready and hungry (read under employed) cast on TNS payroll now.
Plus NBC is showing TNS on its relatively new Universal+ HDTV cable channel with 25 million subscribers. I bet that is as big as the UK’s Sky One. Australian’s Network Ten is going to show TNS, ‘Ten’ has about 5.7 viewers.
But, I’ll write yet another couple of letters.

I don't know if I would have an interest in an animated series, but I do recall there was a Star Trek TV animated series after the regular ST series was canceled and before the movies were made. The original cast did their own voices keeping TOS continuation idea intact.
That might work for BG as well, as there seems to be some parallels between the two series. We've certainly compared the two series often enough over the years.

The Star Trek animated series were awful and where was Chekov?
Gene Rodenberry eventually disowned the animated series years later. That's why TAS is not considered cannon in the official Star Trek timeline.
It's just like Glen Larson and G80.
I think the whole idea sucks.

Scoot, if Tom DeSanto has an animated series based on TOS in mind, the guy is nobodies fool.
So if Tom DeSanto wants fan support for a TOS cartoon, I'll support whatever the guy has planed, as long as it leads to a continuation movie. Time buddy time, cause he the working executive producer on Singer's Wolverine movie.
If Larson will only allow his movie be sold or ramroded by someone like Tom DeSanto, GAL will still receive a healthy hunk of the gross, so why not let someone else develop it for a major studio. Instead GAL wastes his time on Knight Rider, not on Battlestar Galactica. So he ought to sh*t or get of the pot, instead the old boy wastes time, he has closed one eye and farted, pissing away time, a commodity in my minds eye hurts the version of Battlestar Galactica, I want to see. Unfortunately, he is pre-occupied with a wise cracking back talking, super-duper black car that was also his last successful TV series. (1997)

Battlestar Galactica II:
While I feel for DeSanto and Glen A. Larson, Richard Hatch and others; do you really feel that all the big networks would let an BSGTOS Animated Continuation really fly while BSGRNS is flying high with all the Hype and Media Attention as well as the crappy spacetheme song?
Come on Peoples, We are not thinking of the Fanbase of new BSGRmakers Fans and where their money will be going. To Hollywood critics, the BSGRNS is very good cannon fodder for them, the "Gritty Realism" of the sex-babes pilots dominating over the men is good pr to the lesbian and gay crowds. The "Family Oriented" grabsexwhereyoucangetit, never mind if it is with an FembotILS#6-6000 model and a HelpfulDr. Baltar, seems to be the inthing for BSGRNS junkies.

Would Hollywood give up all this, would the Multi Media with Ronald D. Moore as the goldenspoon swallower of the year want to step out of the limelight?
